Mes activités de recherche touchent à la dynamique du peuplement amérindien en Amazonie, et plus généralement en Amérique. A partir de l'analyse de traceurs génétiques des populations, j’étudie les modalités de dispersion et d'adaptation biologique, des premiers Amérindiens (il y a environ 15 000 ans) jusqu’à nos jours.
J'essaie notamment de souligner le rôle de la répartition géographique et linguistique, de la démographie et des contraintes environnementales sur la mise en place du patrimoine génétique et biologique en Amérique. Ainsi, par la simulation informatique (approche Bayesienne) et l’utilisation de logiciels sensibles aux variations d’effectifs des populations, j'essaie de proposer des scenarios qui expliqueraient au mieux le pool génétique observé.
My research activities deal with Native American population genetics. I am interested in the genetic and biological structure of the Amerindian populations according to the geographical and linguistic grounds. Understanding the dispersal of genetic diversity should shed a light onto the patterns of expansion and adaptation of the Native inhabitants of the Americas. I try to emphasize the relation between geography, linguistics, demography, environmental constraints and the biological and genetic heritage of Native Americans. Using the approximate Bayesian calculation and specific softwares sensitive to population size variations, I try to infer the best scenario that originated the genetic patterns observed.
